About the Ford F-150 Lightning

For the first time ever, you can buy an all-electric pickup truck. Best of all, it’s wrapped up in a legendary, best-selling package – the Ford F-150. Taking its name from the beloved high performance pickup of the ‘90s and early ‘00s, the all-new Ford F-150 Lightning offers incredible performance. With 563 horsepower and 775 lb/ft of torque, the Lightning is the most powerful F-150 that you can buy.

The unique packaging of an electric power system allowed Ford engineers to utilize the space under the hood to create the Mega Power Frunk, a cavernous storage space that can swallow up to 400 pounds and 14.1 cubic feet of cargo. Carrying messy cargo? The Mega Power Frunk is washable and drainable, just like the truck bed. Speaking of which, the F-150 Lightning boasts an incredible payload capacity of 2,235 pounds.

What the Critics Say

“But floor the accelerator and you'll know that the Lightning is not your standard gasoline-powered F-150; the electric motors' instant, massive torque slams you into the seat as if you got run into from behind by a Peterbilt. Otherwise, the Lightning delivers just about everything the regular F-150 does in a package that is close to a mirror image.” - Car & Driver

“Ford wouldn't be able to stand behind that whole "Built Ford Tough" jargon if its electric pickup couldn't tow and haul some serious poundage. Maximum towing capacity comes with the extended-range battery and the optional Max Trailer Tow package; if you tick both those boxes on an F-150 XLT or Lariat, you should be safe to tow up to 10,000 pounds. (There are plenty of clever towing features, too.) Ford is estimating payload capacity for standard-range trucks to come in around 2,000 pounds. “ - MotorTrend

Eye-Opening Performance

The Ford F-150 Lightning isn’t some kind of 21st century marketing gimmick. It was designed with serious power and impressive capability. Twin electric motors generate 563 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque, sent to all four wheels through a pair of electric motors. The result? A maximum payload capacity of 2,235 pounds, a towing capacity of 10,000 pounds (when properly equipped), and a zero to 60 time under five seconds. With instantaneous torque, the F-150 Lightning makes a great off-roader, with thick skid plates to protect the electronic components from rocks and tree stumps. You’ve never experienced anything quite like the F-150 Lightning, and once you do, you might find it hard to accept anything else.

Game-Changing Versatility

With no engine on board, the all-electric F-150 Lightning found itself with 14.1 cubic feet of extra space. The engineers at Ford transformed this space into the Mega Power Frunk, a unique storage compartment that’s the size of a car trunk, but capable of being washed and drained like a truck bed. It’s capable of hauling up to 400 pounds, so it can work just as hard as you do. Speaking of working hard, the Ford Intelligent Backup Power function transforms your Lightning into a four-wheeled home generator in the event of a power outage. The Ford F-150 Lightning can power your home for three days – up to ten, if you ration power carefully.

Long-Hauling Flexibility

The Ford F-150 Lightning makes range anxiety a thing of the past, thanks to a standard 240 mile range. Not enough? An upgraded long range battery is available, with a 320 mile range. An optional 80 amp Ford Charge Station Pro is included with the bigger battery, but you don’t need a charging station to keep your truck going. The F-150 Lightning can charge from any 120V or 240V household outlet. While the Ford Charge Station Pro will fully charge a battery overnight, a household outlet can slow charge the battery and is perfect for topping the truck off at work or at home. You can depend on the Ford F-150 Lightning to take you anywhere and everywhere.
